A Man Of Moral Focus, Demonstrated Leadership and Integrity
A New Breed of Republican
"My Word Always Has Been AND Will Always Be My Bond." Ken Cope
KEN COPE
Former Candidate Texas US Senate (2014) and Texas Congressional District #6 (2018)
2016 Republican National Delegate for Texas Congressional District #6
Who Am I?
-
My life's benchmarks are the principles lived and taught by Jesus.
-
I am a citizen just like you.
-
I speak in common and straight talk that all Americans can understand.
-
I have the same concerns and frustrations as the majority of Americans.
-
My reputation is one of fairness, tenacity, aggressiveness, and integrity.
-
I believe in “common-sense” – not a “political NON-sense” – approach to representing the all Americans.
-
I am disgusted with our immoral and corrupt representatives.
-
I am disgusted with representatives that agree with us for election, then turn their backs once elected.
-
I feel the pain of a political party that appears to have forgotten people like us, UNTIL Donald J. Trump arrived.
-
I believe that "Unapproachable - Establishment Republicans" must go. They were the reason why the Republican Party failed to achieve significant legislative gains in 2017-2018 when they held a majority in both houses.
-
I'm not a career politician, a judge, a lawyer, or a "rich Republican."
-
As a new breed of Republican, I am not nor do I want to be a politician. My experience is almost exclusively in the real world, in the military, in private business, in domestic and international environments.
-
I have achieved success in business and leadership throughout my career.
-
I am retired; I do not need to go to Washington for financial gain.
-
I believe in six-term limit for U. S. Representatives and two-term limit on U.S. Senators.
-
I believe candidates should donate all unspent election funds (not provided from their personal funds) to charity within 60 days of election.
-
I believe the 17th Amendment to the Constitution should be repealled and U. S. Senators should be elected by the state legislatures that they represent. Elected in and Elected OUT by their home representatives!
-
I believe that the McCain/Finegold Campaign Finance Bill is based upon corruption and must be repealled.
-
I believe candidates should not begin to raise re-election funds until 12 months before the next general election.
-
I am committed to expanding growth of the Republican party through real positive dialog about issues affecting minorities and other groups where the party is not as strong as it should be. I am proud of President Trump actions towards this goal.
-
I believe we must fight political battles to "win" for the benefit of the American people.
-
I believe we must fight against elected officals giving the perception that their offices are "open" and "for sale", as with lobbyists. REPEAL THE 17TH AMENDMENT.
-
LASTLY, I believe in the replacement of the IRS with a national sales tax. See my proposed 5-0-3 plan.
I Believe The Failures Of Our Incumbent Representatives Are:
-
Failure to lead the party to any major successes. (Elections. Legislation. Budgets.)
-
A failure in maintaining personal discipline in either their personal, or professional, lives.
-
Failure to communicate that our Party is the Party of all the people, including the Poor, Black, Hispanic, Women, Disinfranchised...
-
Failure to fight the Obamacare fight to a successful conclusion, as most were elected to do.
-
Failure to be a cohesive force within the party, resulting in conflicts between the "establishment" and Conservative groups.
-
Failure in terms of strategy and tactics to recognize when to take a stand and fight. Instead the party has been led to "capitulate" and "absorb blame" prematurely. (The Obamacare cloture, increases to the Debt Ceiling and Iranian Treaty votes are just a couple examples.)
-
Failure to support the grassroot Republicans. Their transparent support is only for the sake of winning an election. Grassroot Republicans are well aware of the Establishment's pandering.
What is a New Breed of Republican?
-
" New Breed of Republican" is what our founding fathers envisioned. It is time to rebrand our party and refocus its direction. Republicans outside of Washington recognize that the party has changed, but not for the better. "Establishment" influences have moved the party in unfavorable directions. Under the current Congressional leadership, Republicans appear to be afraid to fight for the conservative values that we cherish. The military teaches that if you are going to fight, you should pick the location and the time for the battle. Our leadership does not understand this concept. They continue to follow the lead and playbook of the Democrats. When our party has had the opportunity to choose the location and time of the battle, they have caved and capitulated before the fight, particularly when it comes to Obamacare, the national debt, Iran, and budgets.
-
The party is also failing to engage on other issues important to citizens. Among these are immigration reform/border security, respect for women, and the racial genocide of abortion.
-
Echoing Democrats, our party has tried to marginalize Tea Party participants as "right wingers" and people at the extreme fringe. The grassroot Republicans are merely a movement of citizens who love and cherish American's freedoms, its free markets, and its exceptionalism. For this, the Grand Old Party mocks them – when it isn't pandering to them during primary elections. Fortunately, grassroot Republicans are able to see through this and continue to address this to our leaders on the national stage.
-
A new breed of Republican is one who is not under the control of the establishment or dependent upon it for support. This type of Republican works to make the party inclusive of all Americans, fights to win, and does not capitulate to opponents before the fight. This new breed of Republican welcomes grassroot support and welcomes them as party loyalists.
Summary:
I admit that I have supported "Establishment Republicans" in past elections. However, their failures and disappointments have become a distraction and embarrassment to their constituents and the proud people of Texas. This is only a part of why I have this page. You see, as a father, grandfather and Texan, I have become seriously concerned about the future of our country and the life that my generation will be leaving to our loved ones. I cannot bear to face my grandchildren in the future as they ask, “Why didn’t someone stand up and do something to stop this from happening to our country?” Now, I will be able to tell my grandchildren that “I AM!"
