COLORADO EXPERIENCE

  • After the the 2016 National Republican Convention, Marie and I made a significant life changing decision.  We sold our Texas home in Midlothian, TX and purchased a 42' fifth wheel RV.  We traveled across the southwest for about a year and a half.  During these travels, we found a mountain cabin in Colorado and purchased it as a vacation home.  We continued to travel.

  • While still traveling in 2017 and opportunity arose for the Texas 6th Congressional District (Including parts of Dallas-Ft Worth and adjacent southern counties).  My permanent address had remained in Texas and I (With Family's Support) decided to run for the open seat.  Eleven others also ran and I came in behind Ron Wright and Jake Ellzey.  After a runoff, Ron Wright became the next Congressman.  Ron was a fine Christian man and performed his congressional duties with honor.  In January 2021, Ron passed away.  By this time, Marie and I had made a permanent address change to our Colorado vacation home. Consequently, I was not eligible to run for the open seat and I knew this had ethical concerns.  It wasn't to be.  Regardless, over twenty others ran which included Jake Ellzey and Susan Wright, Ron's widow.  Jake won the runoff and became the next congressman.

  • I have remained in the Republican party, but not pursued anything beyond just being a good citizen.  Colorado politics mirrors California.  Combine that with their tax structure and we decided to make the move to Wyoming.

  • Our Colorado cabin is on the northern border near the Wyoming state line.  We spend most of our time in Laramie and Cheyenne, WY.   We have come to enjoy the people and environment.

  • As a disabled veteran, my VA support facilities were in Cheyenne, WY.  Consequently, when we decided to make the move to Wyoming, Cheyenne was the easy choice.
